First I have to say that this boy is delicious... i just love him. He is getting so affectionate and I am eating it up. Look at this face! mmmmmm... gobble, gobble.
Okay so we are not counting chickens but to let you know what is going on.... My CPS caseworker called me this morning and we are now not going to go to mediation with the bio mother of Bear. Instead we are going to all agree on what will come of his placement with us and the relinquishing of her rights. Translating into what are we willing to do for her if she relinquishes her rights. Now, Johnny and I have talked about this many times before and feel that it would be appropriate to do a yearly update letter (no return addresses) and maybe a picture. We may even be open to every 6 mos an update letter. All of our attorneys will meet together or talk over the phone and sign off on an agreement between us and the mother and of course them too. That way she does not have to come up here for anything. And we don't have to go to court per Se. But after that we will move onto final termination on October 21st. I asked my caseworker what that looks like for us and she said that he would be removed from CPS and placed into adoptions and we will get a new caseworker that works solely on adoptions.
So then I went on to ask her... "tell me honestly, do you think we are going to get to adopt him?" and she said YES!!!... I don't know why not he's been with y'all since birth... so it looks good." Thank YOU JESUS! These are the words I have longed to hear...
Again we are not counting chickens b/c in this game there are worse case scenarios that do happen but at this point it looks pretty promising... I was also told that it should take no more than a month for us to officially adopt him... which means that he could really be ours by Christmas.... What a Birthday gift for Jesus! His children Blessed to their hearts desire.
Well I am off to spend time with my amazing hubby now but I will keep you all updated on the progress and what gets settled on. I am supposed to be contacted again soon about what they say about our proposal on the letter/picture situation. Thank you again for all your prayers and support. We appreciate you all!
