Look at that smile... This is the blessing that God gives to us daily. We have many blessings this is true but our favorite blessing is Bear and his generous smile. He has been smiling like this lately and capturing the attention of everyone around (he is not chintzy when it comes to his smiles) ... They all carry on telling us how beautiful, cute, handsome etc... he is and all we can say is thank you. I don't know what the appropriate response would be in this case... We have nothing to do with his "genetic make-up or his inherited looks". However, it has been apparent to me many times that a child's attitude can also make him/her the cutest they can be so that makes me smile and greatly say "thank you". Because his attitude we do have control over... we do work on that daily.
In any event we choose not to let it get out of hand and just politely say (while Bear signs) "Thank You" (he is starting to catch on and we hear an occasional "dayt do" cross his lips). It is most rewarding to have been given such a wonderful God given gift. We love him and are so thankful that God chose us to be his "Forever Parents".... (in faith)

I too struggle with what to say when someone says that Baby D is cute/handsome/gorgeous, etc.
I mean, I didn't have anything to do with it. BUT, I DO keep him clean, fed, changed and presentable.
So, I take the credit. After all, no one else is chomping at the bit to claim him! ;)
he is SO CUTE!
oh, and you totally get ALL the credit...well you and God of course :) and being adopted i have some experience seeing me who was adopted my sister who was raised by our biological parents...it's ALL in the attitude.
